Rolex Submariner 116610LV “Hulk”
Rolex announced the 116610LV “Hulk” in 2010, and it was the first green bezel AND green dial watch they had ever produced. Prior, they had released pieces with green accents - like the Kermit with a green bezel. As such, the “Hulk” became a staple in regards to timepieces with unique and bright colors. The 40mm, ceramic bezel timepiece did well and was sought after during its 10 year production run. However, in 2020, when Rolex decided to discontinue the “Hulk”, prices soared - especially for those dated closest to the discontinue announcement. While the “Hulk” has now been replaced by the 41mm, ceramic bezel 126610LV “Starbucks”, its black dial (opposed to the “Hulk’s” green dial) is definitely a notch down from the vivid saturation of its predecessor.
The collectibility factor of the Hulk is unmatched for its price point. Yes, prices for it keep climbing - but, even if demand dips slightly, it is no longer in production so supply is capped. And, the cherry on top, Rolex does not currently make another updated iteration of it (I don’t count the “Starbucks”). As such, the Hulk usually does not follow the spike and dip trends of the currently produced “hype” sport model Rolexes. Rather, it has been a mostly steady and gradual increase in value. It is true, Rolex may produce a newer model “Hulk” in the future - but, it will not be exactly the same. The case will likely be 1mm larger (as are all new Submariners), and the movement will likely be a different caliber as well. We currently have two “Hulks” in inventory: a 2020 unworn and a 2019 pre-owned. Both include full manufacturer warranty documentation and original boxes.
